Multinational air force exercise begins in Finland

HELSINKI, June 16 (Xinhua) -- The multinational air force exercise Atlantic Trident 25, hosted by Finland, began on Monday, according to Finnish national broadcaster Yle.

Taking place from June 16 to 27, the exercise brings together more than 40 aircraft and approximately 1,000 personnel from Finland, the United States, the United Kingdom (UK), and France. It is being coordinated by Air Force Command Finland, headquartered in Jyvaskyla, central Finland, according to the Finnish Air Force.

This year marks the first time Finland is hosting the exercise, following its accession to the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) in 2023.

The main focus of the exercise will be on air operations and command and control, with the aim of strengthening NATO's collective defense and deterrence, said the Finnish Air Force.
