VILNIUS, June 2 (Xinhua) -- The Bucharest Nine (B9) summit took place here on Monday, with leaders of the B9 and Nordic countries pledging to gradually increase defense spending.
According to a joint statement issued by Lithuania's Presidential Palace, the leaders "are moving towards reaching at least five percent of GDP" on defense and defense-related investments.
The commitment was outlined in the joint statement issued following the meeting, co-chaired by Lithuanian President Gitanas Nauseda, Polish President Andrzej Duda, and Romanian President Nicusor Dan.
The next Bucharest Nine summit is set to take place in Romania next year.
