HELSINKI, Oct. 14 (Xinhua) -- Finnish President Sauli Niinisto will self-isolate due to COVID-19 exposure, the president's office said Thursday.

Niinisto "had a discussion" with Latvian President Egils Levits at an event in Malmo, Sweden on Wednesday. Levits later tested positive for COVID-19, the president's office said in a press release.

"As a precaution, President Niinisto will self-isolate and take a COVID-19 test," it said.

Due to the situation, the Finnish president also postponed Thursday's meeting with Estonian President Alar Karis, it added.

Niinisto, 73, has been fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
