Americans Jessica Pegula and Danielle Collins rolled to easy victories in the opening round of the Chicago Fall Tennis Classic on Monday.
The ninth-seeded Pegula needed just 66 minutes to complete a 6-3, 6-0 victory over Poland's Magdalena Frech and the 10th-seeded Collins required 81 minutes to post a 6-4, 6-2 win over Kirsten Flipkens of Belgium. American Madison Keys retired due to a right shoulder injury against Belarus' Aliaksandra Sasnovich, who led 6-4, 2-0.
Tennis Hall of Famer Kim Clijsters of Belgium played her first match of 2021 but Chinese Taipei's Su-Wei Hsieh spoiled her return with a 6-3, 5-7, 6-3 triumph.
